Identification: Coronet: none, arch of neck is a smooth curve; juveniles may have a very small coronet but this disappears as they mature. Spines: none on body; very short and blunt on tail Other distinctive characters: short snout; male with slight keel. Color/Pattern: usually mottled greenish or brownish; can have scattered dark spots on body.

Behavior: Often found in estuaries, making the only widely accepted brackish-water seahorse

Maximum Length: Adult height: 5.3-11.2cm

Origin: Southeast Atlantic: endemic to South Africa

Minimum tank size: 30 Gallon

Feeding and diet: Frozen, enriched Mysis shrimp, copepods, Hawaiian Red Shrimp.

Availability: Endangered. Please do not purchase this fish, unless you are an EXPERT seahorse keeper and intend to breed this species
