Brazilian Seahorse
Hippocampus Reidi
Identification: Bright red, orange or
yellow. Black spots dot their face and body,
and pearly-white bands are often seen running across their back
Maximum Length: 7.0 - 8.0"
Origin: South America
Minimum tank size: 20 Gal.
Behavior: Very slow and graceful. Can be trained to eat from a feeding stick or even by hand.
Feeding and diet: Live enriched brine shrimp and ghost shrimp. Frozen Mysis shrimp.
Reef Compatibility: Do not keep
with fast or aggressive fish or they will starve to death. A species
tank is ideal. House with many hitching posts such as Caulerpa and
brightly
colored sponges to grab onto. Pipefish make excellent tank mates.
Cautions: Great care is needed to keep them in good health. Must be fed twice a day.
