Identification: t is an elongated species with a pointed nose. Its coloration is light orange overall with red striping and dotting throughout the body of the fish. 

Maximum Length: The Long-nosed Hawkfish (Oxycirrhites typus) attains a length of approximately 4 inches

Origin: Indo-Pacific

Minimum tank size: 20 Gallon

Behavior: Since this species does not have a swim bladder which allows a fish to hover in the water column without having to swim. Thus, this species will spend most of its time perching on rocks and other aquarium decorations. Water quality-wise they are not difficult or demanding so long as nitrates and phosphates are kept low. The aquarist can keep the Long-nosed Hawkfish in small groups particularly in a larger aquarium settings as it will be and will be relatively peaceful towards other aquarium species.

Feeding and diet: This species will eat a variety of prepared foods as these fish will seek it out themselves among live rock you have placed in the aquarium. This species may, however, devour a number of small ornamental crustaceans. It will ignore and not eat corals.
al shrimp and small fishes.

Cautions: Has been known to jump out of uncovered aquariums.
