Identification: The large head section back to the first of the two dorsal fins, is yellow-brown in color. A dark brown vertical band joins the first dorsal fin to the pelvic fins. A spotted paler spotted area covers the rear of the fish.

Origin: Indo-Pacific

Minimum tank size: 20 Gallon

Behavior: This fish is frequently seen in the aquarium trade. It is considered to be one of the hardiest fish and therefore, best aquarium fishes for the beginner hobbyist. Living in aggregations among branching corals in the wild, this fish does particularly well in groups in the aquarium environment as well. Once acclimated to the aquarium, these cardinal fish are veracious feeders. But, be careful when adding this fish to a particularly aggressive aquarium environment as more aggressive species may pick on them. Unlike some of the other aquarium cardinalfish species, this cardinal will spend most of the daylight hours in full view.

Feeding and diet: A meaty diet consisting of brine shrimp. plankton, mysis, ghost shrimp. Do not feel this species flake food.

Reef Compatibility:  The Pajama Cardinalfish is ideal for the marine reef aquarium because it will not bother invertebrates or decorative crabs. 

Cautions: Do not keep with larger boisterous species, which would upset the tranquil lifestyle of these fishes.
